December 2022: Reflect & Relax, Get to the Resolutions Next Year

“The holiday season is a perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek ways to make life better for those around us.”

– Anonymous

The most wonderful time of the year! If it were up to me, I would keep a Christmas tree in my living room year-round. After that first, short-lived dose of holiday mode over Thanksgiving, the prospect of some much needed down time to end the year is most appealing. American culture teaches us to run rampant and it’s important to take a step back and relax. I firmly believe it takes 2 weeks for the perfect amount of time to unwind and come back fresh afterwards. One week to begin to decompress and then that second to fully embrace relaxing and ignore the tendency that you should be doing more. I typically only get to enjoy that that length around this time of year. Watch movies, read a book, eat snacks that you will swear off again in January. Holiday mode baby, it only comes once a year!

Time With Family & Loved Ones

“May you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve.”

The decorations, celebrations, and cheer really does help to remind us of what’s most important. For me, its cherished time with family and loved ones. Having a reason to feel like children again when times were simpler and new. One of my favorite things to do is make the rounds in Raleigh (where I’m from) and get to see my friends that I grew up with. It’s amazing how you can go for a year or more of not talking or seeing each other and once you reconnect, you’re able to pick up right where you left off. The more years that go by the deeper our friendships and relationships grow and the more appreciative I become of the time we get to spend together.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

“It’s Christmas Eve. It’s the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be.” – Frank Cross
