February 2022: Start with “Why”

“Happiness comes from what we do. Fulfillment comes from why we do it.”

-Simon Sinek

We all have moments that define us. Oddly enough, they usually tend to stem from adversity and how we respond to it. The extreme highs are generally be followed by extreme lows and vice versa. Survival is success and once you look around to find that challenging period is behind you, you have perspective in how you persevered. Out of those experiences shapes your “why.”

Defining or Redefining Your “Why”

“If we want to feel an undying passion for our work, if we want to feel we are contributing to something bigger than ourselves, we all need to know our WHY.”

-Simon Sinek

I really started to think about my “why” when I got into real estate 5 years ago and thought I had it figured out. Recently, I realized that our why changes over time and that it’s important to revisit every so often. Why should people choose to work with you or why should you choose to work for a certain company? It’s not what we do, but why we do it.

My “Why”

“WHATs are products, services and job functions we perform. HOWs are values, guiding principles and actions that make us stand out. The WHY defines what the organization stands for—it is the collective purpose, cause, or belief.”

-Simon Sinek

I‘m grateful to be living in one of the most exciting cities in the country. Vibrating with culture and creativity, you can feel the energy booming throughout as we grow bigger every day while still maintaining welcoming hospitality that makes our city so unique.

I spent most of my adulthood traveling the country and playing music, searching for my why. Now I enjoy waking up most Saturdays at home and making breakfast. Getting to play music regularly with so many musician friends who have ended up here to be surrounded by creative-type minded individuals. Fanning the flame is my occupation that is driven entirely from my relationships. I love being able to explore the city and help people transition as they begin new chapters of their lives and find homes where they create memories and host experiences. It’s a beautiful balance that brings great fulfillment to daily life. What’s your why?

“The goal is not simply for you to cross the finish line, but to see how many people you can inspire to run with you.”
