March 2022: The Rise of Spring

“Spring is far more than just a changing of seasons; it’s a rebirth of the spirit.”

― Toni Sorenson

Every year when the weather turns in March, I’m reminded of the power of Spring. Being cooped up and surrounded by grey skies and cold temperatures in January & February can really put our wills to the test and I never realize how much until the sun re-emerges and the days become longer again. But Winter does have its perks. I like to think of it as that period where we grow and reflect and when we come out of it, we’re stronger and ready to take on the next challenges and adventures. Plus, you can’t appreciate the warm without having survived the cold. Winter is a time of Reflection while Spring is the time of rebirth.

The Power of Positivity

“You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”

–Marcus Aurelius

The state of the world is very interesting right now. The war in Ukraine, inflation, gas prices, 2 years of a pandemic, the volatility of the stock market, and in my case, the low standing supply of houses in the real estate world. It’s more than enough to make you feel overwhelmed and helpless. But harping on things that are out of your control doesn’t help and certainly doesn’t get you to where you want to be. I’ve tried it and found that when things are bad and you dwell, they only get worse. It’s important to always be moving forward and staying positive. We’re all going to have bad days (usually one Tuesday or Wednesday per week) and that’s ok. You just recognize that it’s just that, an off day. Power through and remind yourself that the following will be better. And lastly, don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone has their own struggles no matter what social media might portray and success comes in waves for all of us. Its temporary, just like challenges. When you find yourself doing this, focus on what you’re grateful for rather than what you don’t have. Things could always be worse.

Things Have a Way of Working Out

“You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future… The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it… Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

-Steve Jobs

We’re all working in real time here and making the best decisions we know how to in the moment. If one door doesn’t lead us to where we thought it would, then we have to keep moving and know that we’ll eventually wind up where we want to be. Keep the faith and enjoy this weather!
