September 2024: Autumn Vibes

“I come alive in the fall time.”-The Weeknd

So long 90-degree days, it’s been nice knowing you. School is back in session, traffic is alive and well, and lazy weekends with football are back action. There’s a shift I notice every year going from summer to fall where I feel a pull to embrace the slower pace. Where we traveled all summer, spent money, and now it’s time to reel it in and take a step back. More cooking at home, less eating out. Then suddenly you look up and realize the rest of your year is booked out and we’re in the homestretch until the holidays and end of the year. Another one gone by all too fast. But what to do with the remaining months?

Plotting and Executing

“The trees are about to show us how beautiful it is to let go.”

-Unknown

Becoming a parent this summer, my allotted time to execute has been reduced from where it was prior. I do have more time to plot however and have learned to be much more intentional with my time. This also seems to correlate with the housing market slowing down right before a presidential election. Every 4 years, transactions are down leading up to November 3rd and then the following year, they shoot up. Picks up, then it slows down. Cyclical. Being so used to always being on the go and then having hours where you’re idle and holding a baby, it’s two different skill sets to master and both are equally important. Plot, execute.

A Little Bit at A Time

“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.”

-Oscar Wilde

I don’t have to do something perfect right out of the gate. I just have to show up consistently and chip away at it until it’s perfect. It can be overwhelming to think about how much time and work goes into a finished product. But if I just dedicate a small amount of time and revisit, its gets better daily and almost becomes enjoyable. Almost!

3 months left until the end of the year. Plot, execute, show up, chip away. Happy Fall, y’all!
